The calla lily at left was taken at South Coast Botanical Garden on the Palos Verde Peninsula in March.   The botanical gardens aren't particularly large, but at certain times of the year, the abundance of flowers and overwhelming color is incredible.  While there are numerous trails, most of the color is contained on a couple acres near the entrance.

This image was taken with a 200 mm micro lens.  The sun was in the perfect location, above and slightly in front, to produce the translucent effect.  A lesser quality lens would have produced flaring which would have diminished the color.
