 Autumn Trees 3

The above image was taken in early October in a small grove of aspen trees located on the road to Conway Summit north of Lee Vining in the Eastern Sierra.

The trip was originally oriented towards taking photographs of Mono Lake but the color at the high altitudes was beginning to show so we bolted  from the rest of the group to shoot autumn color.  Sometimes you just have to be flexible.

We drove by this location in the mid to late afternoon and the backlighting was outstanding.  Instead of just shooting from the outside in, I entered the little grove to see what I could find inside. The image was taken with a 28-70 F2.8 lens with a 3 stop soft neutral density filter.
