Flying Seagull

Late fall is not typically the time to photograph seagulls.  However, I find a kind of beauty in photographing birds in their winter plumage.  While some species of birds like pelicans add a lot of color, most other birds  lose their color.  The color is replaced by really interesting patterns.

I enjoy just shooting birds on the fly.  Your really never know what you've captured until you get the photos back from the lab.  This is an advantage of digital but all of the images on this site are scanned from film.

The photograph was taken with a 80-400 VR F5.6 lens, hand held at F8 and 1/125 th of a second.
