Egret - 2

The image above was taken during a 4 day trip to Monterey in spring. The egret was feeding on nasty looking insect like creatures in the tide pools at Point Lobos.  While the rest of the group was photographing images of rocks and surf, I decided to photograph the egret for as long as he was a willing subject.  I've been to tide pools many times and never seen an egret displaying this feeding behavior.

The challenge was to move around the egret to eliminate as much backlight as possible.  I took over a hundred images of the egret and every time I thought I had a good image, I shot again as long as the egret was feeding.

The photograph above was taken with a high speed digital camera with 500mm F4 lens on a CF tripod.
