Shooting racing cars from only one of four photo towers at the LBGP can be as exciting as shooting NASCAR on an oval track from the stands. The excitement for the fans is in the race and drivers themselves and this is pretty hard to capture by a camera unless you have access to all of the personalities in the pits.
Thus, I generally try to get a number of "insurance shots" out of the way before I try to do something different. The difference can be created in camera at the track or out-of-camera in post processing. The image above started as a perfectly exposed image and then was heavily manipulated in post processing.
